Dropbox Business browse in MyLawyerLink

How firm Dropbox connections, team-space roots, and personal base directories affect folder browse.

MyLawyerLink connects to Dropbox with the same user OAuth flow used by the Dropbox desktop app. For Dropbox Business teams, a few setup details affect which folders appear when you browse.

Team-space root (firm connection)

Dropbox Business accounts store files in a team space. MyLawyerLink captures the team-space root namespace when a firm admin connects or reconnects Dropbox. That lets browse list the same top-level folders you see in Dropbox for the connected account.

If browse shows only one mounted folder (for example a single client folder), open Settings โ†’ Firm โ†’ Integrations and check Dropbox:

  • Reconnect Dropbox if you see a warning that the team-space root is not configured.
  • Confirm the connected email is the Dropbox user who can see your firm folders.

Personal base directory (optional)

Under Settings โ†’ Personal โ†’ Dropbox base directory, each team member can optionally limit simple-mode browse to a subfolder (for example their attorney workspace). When no base directory is set, browse shows the full tree visible to the connected firm account.

If browse looks scoped to one folder but your personal base directory shows as unset, ask a firm admin to reconnect Dropbox or clear and re-save your base directory preference.

Shared client folders

Client folders must be accessible to the connected Dropbox user in the Dropbox web or desktop app. MyLawyerLink cannot list folders the connected account cannot open in Dropbox. Use folder search in browse to find client folders by name when they are not visible at the top level.

After app or permission changes

If your Dropbox app permissions change in the Dropbox developer console, disconnect and reconnect Dropbox from firm integrations so MyLawyerLink receives a fresh authorization.
